I came across this great deal from a friend. Get Adobe® Creative Suite® 3.3 Web Premium for only S$97 if you are a MOE teacher or student or from NIE. Photoshop extended, dreamweaver, flash, illustrator, fireworks, acrobat 9 and contribute are the software available. Just one of them can cost a few hundred dollars, or close to a thousand, so this deal seems unbelievable, but it’s real.

The only query I have is whether there is any difference between Photoshop and Photoshop extended. Probably those who like to do web work can get this.

I have learn how to use Flash before, but that was super long ago and I didn’t have the software to practise. Apart from this, I don’t really know how to use Adobe products. I think the Acrobat 9 Professional is definitely worth the money. You can edit pdf files and create your own, though there are free products.

So, go get your relatives who are eligible for this to purchase the products. I’m not sure when this offer is until, so get them quickly. Check out this website to find out more information about Adobe® Creative Suite® 3.3 Web Premium.

Natas Fair is on this weekend http://www.natastravelfair.travel/front.php at Singapore Expo Halls 4,5 and 6. Some of my credit card companies had been sending messages to me telling me the great deals they had struck up with different travel agencies. It’s a great time to sieve out the great deals. You can read today’s Straits Times for the advertisements and writeups.

The last time I went to the tour, I booked a great trip to the various onsens or hot springs in Japan. This time round, I’m looking for great deals for my honeymoon at the end of the year. My friend went to Greece, and some suggested New Zealand. Any suggestions?

Before you decide on the tour package, check for the hidden charges such as fuel surcharges, taxes, and add-on day tours. I went with my friend on a very cheap tour to Chiang Mai before, and we had to pay 500 baht per person to go to each location, such as going to the borders between three countries, and a visit to the Karen hill tribes. So the best deal may not be that great.

In addition, my trip to Korea was filled with lots of visits to shops and stores where the tour guide could earn commission. The photographer with us tried to take photos of us, which he would charge $8 per photo. One family had to pay more than $300 for the photos because they did not know about this.

At the same time, some tours may fail to materialise because not enough customers book them. If you happen to be on such a tour, you may have to change your plans. Check whether there would be any refunds if this happens.

You may also decide whether you want to see a lot of different places, or you want to enjoy each place at your own pace. Do check with the agencies what languages the tour guides would be speaking in. On my last trip to Japan, the local tour guide could barely speak English and Mandarin. It so happened that most of the tourists on my coach came from English-speaking backgrounds, so when the man tried to lapse into Cantonese, he lost almost all of us.

Enjoy your trip!

Do you have a large collection of photographs that are in digital form and never developed? Sometimes, the reading format may change, and if you have to spend a lot of time converting the format in the future, you may lose the memories forever.

I went to Harvey Norman last week and I saw that they had a promotion at their photo centre. 4R photos only cost 19 cents and I probably have more than 100 photos to develop, that will only cost me $19. The first time I used an online printing digital service, it cost me about $46 for less than 100 photos.

Think the promotion is going to end soon just before National Day. So dig out your travel photos, and your fun photos. You don’t want to tell your kid you lost all his childhood photos when the computer died.

I have been running SingaporeProfit.com for over a year and when the time came for renewing my webhost, I actually encountered a little problem but it was resolved almost immediately. I get a free web domain when I signed up with my host, so when they charged to my bill, I expected everything to be running smoothly, but to my horror, my website disappeared.

The webhost had actually forgotten to renew my domain, so it was taken off. They renewed immediately, and the matter was resolved. However, I felt that the transition could have been better.

So, I went to search for another webhost, and I had heard good reviews about bluehost. I have a number of websites that I have to cater to my wide interests and hobbies, so I want a webhost that allows me to have unlimited number of domains for just one price. With my SingaporeProfit webhost, I can only have one website. For the same price or less, I can actually have unlimited number of domains and email forwarding accounts. That would save me lots of money.

This webhost is cheaper than local packages that are extremely expensive. I saw some advertisements in the newspapers that demand a few hundred dollars a month!

This only costs US$6.95 per month for two years. If you are only trying out for a while, it’s probably not worth it. They also have free domain for first time users.

So, if you want more bang for your cash, and the ability to do more for than your free blogs, you can consider getting this.

I’m sure many of you have moved house before, but have you seen people moving real houses? I watched that on the Discovery channel or something similar, and people who had grown accustomed to their houses actually want to move the entire house to a new site. Some of them may use trucks and other heavy vehicles to move, while others may use ships to move their houses. Most of the houses made it successfully to the new location.

What about cars? While Singapore is too small for us to think about moving cars, it is something rather common in US. Moving across states for work is something common over there, and people have come to love their cars and they do not want to drive their cars all the way from the East to the West. That would be a tough job and takes up too much time, when you have your other furniture and stuff to move. If both husband and wife drive their own cars, then all the more you require help to transport the cars. Selling them and buying new ones in the new state will take up too much money.

There are services that actually allow people to ship or transport their cars easily. Usually SUVs will have to pay more. Some shipping may be open, which means your car is open to weather elements, while if you have an antique or sports car, you may want to consider closed shipping, which is more expensive. There are a list of car movers if you require car transport at this website, and they answer whatever questions you have. They also help you to find the best quotes.

You can really stretch your dollar if you are currently a student or staff in a primary school, secondary school, Junior College, ITE, polytechnic, you can get Microsoft Office 2007 at a super low price.

After checking out the prices in stores, the academic version costs nearly $300 at Challenger while the version by Post Office costs only $128.40. That is huge savings. Remember, buy original. This deal can certainly stretch your dollar, especially if your version is super old.

For those who really want to stretch their dollars and pay nothing, you can try openoffice. It’s totally free. I haven’t tried that though.

If you plan to buy new furniture or furnish your new condo meant for investment, you may want to time when you purchase your furniture.

Apparently, March seems to be the time for furniture stores to clear their old stocks to make room for new pieces. I have seen designer brands going for huge reductions during this month.

Incidentally, I only noticed this trend because my hairstylist pointed it out to me. In December or January, he told me that there would be a furniture fair in March. His friend bought a new entire set of living room furniture that was on display at the expo at a ridiculous low price. That was because the traders did not want to move their goods back to the warehouse and would prefer to sell them off at lower prices.

Hence, when I kept my eyes peeled on the newspapers, I happened to notice many advertisements on such fairs. What does that mean? If my apartment is ready at the end of this year, we are going to go without furniture until March. If my apartment TOPs in March 2009, then the timing is just right. Either way, we are still going to be without a fully-furnished place until next year. That few thousand dollars we save can go into the interior design fees, or into other investments.

In addition, we can get the electronic appliances during the IT fair, which is also held in March last week. This will be really stretching the dollar.

furniture fair IT electronic equipment

If you need to call your family member who is studying in Australia, you only have to pay 4 cents per minute if you know how to choose a calling card. That’s cheaper than using your handphone! Some of the charges are exorbitant!
I’ve found a website that has a range of international calling cards available for different locations. You can be in any part of the world now, so just choose a phone card that offers the best value. Any problems faced by callers are quickly rectified, including wrong access numbers. The card I was talking about is Fast World calling card. There are many more available! One of the best part is they have low denominations, so if you just want to test the service, you don’t have to worry about spending a lot of money!

Woohoo! Tiger Airways is going to offer flights to Melbourne starting from mid January next year. Hopefully that will translate to lower ticket prices to Melbourne, and those who are studying there will be able to take advantage of lower prices. Ever since the Australian dollar moved from near parity with the Singapore dollar, I had not visited Australia. I think with lower prices, it might encourage me to visit there more frequently. I’m going on a trip to Perth in December! I really need a great holiday to perk me up.

How does this compare with the new A380 to Sydney? Well, both go to different cities, and the experience cannot be compared. Saving money on flights may not be the best way to stretch your dollar, because the discomfort on the flights may spoil your holiday.

I once took the above-mentioned budget airline where someone threw up in front and the seats could not be used, and the toilets were in a bad shape. It was not their fault, but with the quick turnaround, the stewardess did not have enough time to prepare the plane for the next batch of customers.

I’ve watched how some people stretched their dollars on trips on a television show, and those who need to transit to take other flights should reconsider taking budget airlines, as it is difficult to predict the schedule at times. Corporate travellers should not consider such alternatives. Anyway, their companies should be able to afford proper comfortable flights for them.
