Jumong and Money

I had been watching Jumong, a Korean drama serial about a warrior prince who sets up a new nation in ancient Korea. There are more than 80 episodes, and I’ve finished 54. The lead actress, Soseno, has strong business acumen. One day, while trading, this tribe refused to pay double the usual amount for salt. She refused to let them lower the price, so the deal was off.

When it rained, she had an idea and got her staff to fill up those bags of salt with sand, and placed them outside. When the tribe leader came back to her, she jacked up the price again, and claimed it was their fault for delaying the purchase and causing the salt to go bad due to the rain. This time round, she managed to make triple the original price, and still had half the original amount of salt left. This handsome profit came in handy for her rebuilding of her nation.

When people face difficulty, sometimes increasing the price is the way to go, rather than resort to price wars in order to sell something. Crisis may also result in opportunities for people.

Well, one thing about the show is due to their hairstyles, I kept noticing the ears of the actors. The lead actor, Jumong, has elvish pointed ears. Another one had dumbo ears, which could probably get in Maryland ear pinning surgery to pin the ears down. I think Prince Charles did that.
