Slimming and Installment Plans
In Louisville plastic surgery is very popular, especially with women who wants to improve their looks. There are even travel packages for plastic surgery. In Singapore, I guess more people take to slimming centres first because they feel that the treatments are less intrusive. Slimming is a huge industry with the ladies. There are numerous ads in the newspaper, and the centres must be fighting for a slice of the large pie.
I know of at least three people who have gone to the same slimming salon chain. This chain is able to attract famous Hong Kong stars to star in their advertisements, so I guess they have been very successful. At least two of these people I know have spent more than $10000 on the slimming sessions. $10000 is certainly not a small sum, and for them to spend the money freely, they might have chosen to pay by instalments.
While I do not really like paying things by instalments due to the troublesome nature of constantly wondering when the next payment will end, and it also blocks off a large part of the credit available to you. However, someone mentioned that paying by instalments forces the shops to be constantly on their toes, and they would offer better service because they are still waiting for our payments. Some even joke that slimming only works on your wallet. Unfortunately, I do not know how this really works from the merchant’s point of view, unless anyone here is able to provide some information about this.
